I am an on-and-off journalist though a lot of times I write just to organize my thoughts. I like talking and listening which might seem a bit of a contradiction. I enjoy being with people who aren't cynical about the world and take it for what it has to offer. I love talking as well as listening, which might sound as a contradiction, but isn't.

The smell of old books, looking out at the ocean, walking through pine forests, pepperoni sandwiches, foreign languages, looking out at the sky and spotting a planet, listening to an opera on shortwave radio are some of the things that make me very very happy.

Reporting from a war zone, hitchhiking across countries, working on a farm, bungee jumping at 2am and travelling 4000 miles to be with a girl are among the few silly but worthwhile things I've done in my life.

I love listening to stories and think that this world is an astonishingly beautiful place filled with some amazing people. I'd like to get to know at least a few of them in the course of my lifetime.
