I am a former military member who has lived in Kyiv for the last 3 years as an English teacher. I am quite familiar with Ukrainian traditions, customs, and the pitfalls of being a tourist in this wonderful country. My particular skill set includes security, safety, risk management, and minor military medical triage. While I feel safer in Ukraine than I do in USA, it never hurts to keep your guard up.
